Roswell New Mexico
Located centrally in
southeastern New Mexico the community of Roswell has
an abundance of attractions to delight both the
nature lover and museum enthusiast. Of course our
International UFO Museum is "world
renowned" and has a wealth of information for the
UFO enthusiast.
The Roswell Museum
and Art Center
- View Southwest art
from various artists including Peter Hurd, Georgia
O’Keefe, Henriette Wyeth and Luis Jimenez,
special exhibits are also available throughout the
year. The museum also has a special wing specially
dedicated to Robert H. Goddard, known as the father
of modern rocket science, view a special collection
of some of his first experiments. The planetarium
also has special showings on the third week of each
month.
The Anderson
Museum of Contemporary Art - A program which
began over 20 years ago and has opened it’s doors to
artists worldwide, an artist in residence program.
In turn the residents have each left wonderful work
of arts to the museum. Come enjoy the various types
of art.
The Historical
Center -
The stately home of
James Phelps White, constructed in 1910, beautifully
restored into a living history profile for Roswell.
Beautifully filled with an array of antiques and
artifacts this museum offers a unique look at the
area’s past and retraces the path our fathers and
grandfathers followed. This museum is in the Roswell
Historic District, one of many structures of
architectural styles reflecting the melding of
indigenous, Hispanic and Anglo cultures.

The General Douglas
L. McBride Museum
- Displays of past and
present military memorabilia including historical
heritage of NMMI and the Corps of Cadets. Just a few
of the displays included are 1861 Civic War, 1898
Spanish-American War, 1917 World War I, 1958 Vietnam
War, Cold War and the Persian Gulf War. The General
Douglas L. McBride Museum - Displays of past and

Roswell is the proud
home to the
Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge
and has migratory fowl, designated fishing and
hunting areas that you are more than welcome to
sightsee and photograph from designated areas.
Bitter Lake also has animal and plant life for the
outdoor enthusiast to enjoy.
Bottomless Lakes State Park is one of
natures water recreational heaven, enjoy swimming,
scuba diving, hiking, fishing or motorless boating,
just toss in a packed lunch to enjoy at the picnic
area and your day is set. If you enjoy tent camping
or require R.V. parking Bottomless Lakes has much to
offer and will surely be a hit with your family.
