PLUMA DE AMISTAD NEWSLETTER
	This is the official newsletter of the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce.  The Pluma De Amistad is published once a quarter (January, April, July, October) which features Chamber news as well as information that maybe beneficial for your business.  As a member, you are encouraged to write articles of your business to be included in the newsletter.  You are also encouraged to provide us with flyers (to be inserted in the newsletter) to promote new products, services or activities you may be hosting.  The newsletter is mailed to the Roswell Hispano Chamber membership as well as to other sources.
MARKETING TOOLS
	As a member, you have access to our membership data base.  We will provide you with at least one set of mailing labels per year if you need them.  Additional sets can be arranged if needed.
GUEST SPEAKERS
	The Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce will help you in obtaining a guest speaker for your organization’s meeting.
WEB PAGE
	Your business will be included in the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce membership list web page. It will include: name of business, contact name, address, type of business, telephone number and e-mail address as long as all information is provided. 
TARDEADAS  -  (NETWORKING)
	We can sponsor an after hours event designed specifically to foster direct contacts with area business and local leaders.

COMMITTEES

PUBLIC RELATIONS
	This committee is the official spokes-group for the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce and has the overall responsibility for interpreting the activities of the Chamber to the public.  This committee coordinates the appearance of any RHCC representative before public and private entities, all news items to the electronic and print media, and all public service announcements and all advertising. 
CULTURAL
	This committee is responsible for representing and interpreting the cultural and historical contributions of Hispanic people.  The committee seeks out Hispanic cultural presentations which portray the depth and diversity of Hispanic culture, and interprets the significance of the presentations to Roswell and its citizens.  It seeks to foster cultural pride among children and youth. 
SPECIAL PROJECTS 
	This committee is responsible for organizing and staffing special events on behalf of the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce.  These events are many and diverse, and it is the committee’s special responsibility to coordinate and oversee the work of special volunteers.  
EDUCATION
	The principal responsibility of this committee is to advocate for just and meaningful educational opportunities for all students.  In this endeavor the committee maintains membership in the Multicultural Alliance of RISD and the Multicultural Advisory Committee of ENM”U-R. The committee advocates for the employment of licensed and professional staff that reflects the racial/ethnic demographics of the student population.  It advocates for appropriate role modeling for school children and, when necessary, intervenes on behalf of students who appear to be misunderstood or unfairly treated.  It conducts scholarships fund raising campaigns and awards scholarship assistance to disadvantaged youth.  It also encourages students to stay in school until graduation and to pursue a post secondary education.
GOVERNMENT LIAISON 
	Members of this committee maintain communication with New Mexico’s congressional delegation and with are legislators.  It monitors issues before the Congress and the State Legislature which affect the mission of the Hispano Chamber and seeks ways by which that mission can be furthered through legislative action.  This committee is also responsible for maintaining a proactive stance on legislative issues, and advises the Chamber on those which merit support or opposition. 
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
	The responsibilities of the Economic Development Committee include establishing and maintaining liaison with the small business sector, businesses owned by minorities and businesses owned by women; determining the need for and conducting programs to benefit the city’s economy, to include business seminars, trade fairs and job fairs.  It coordinates joint activities with Main Street Roswell, the Roswell Chamber of Commerce and the city’s merchants.
MEMBERSHIP
	Members of this committee have the principal responsibility to recruit and retain membership.  It solicits new members among individuals, businesses, public and private institutions and maintains a current list of the RHCC’s membership.
