BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT THE ROSWELL HISPANO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce was established in May, 1987 by individuals and business owners with a vision of focusing on creating and sustaining small minority owned businesses and addressing Hispanic and/or Minority community issues to promote equality and open communication for a better community. 

The founding fathers of the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce were: R. G. “Bobby” Villegas, Eloy Ortega, Federico Pardo, Izzy Gutierrez, Bobby Ramirez, Richard Duran, Richard Vigil, Helen Gonzales, Dolores Fresquez and Col. Adrian Martinez. 

The Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization that is comprised of organizations, committees, media and grassroots efforts, building a network of support with the underlying mission of improvement to the economic development of Roswell.

More important, the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce strives to voice the needs of Roswell and Southeastern New Mexico by lobbying for investments in issues specific to our area.




There are many programs and organizations established to meet the needs of our community.  Most organizations are built on and by their membership, as is the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce.  We receive specific project funding from government, private, public and foundation organizations. 

The Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce is a coalition of businesses and community members interested in promoting a good economic climate and quality of life.

We distribute member businesses’ promotions, events information and publications.  The RHCC has several committees on which a member can volunteer that will allow him/her  to meet others in the community.  We are dedicated to providing your business with activities, workshops and seminars to meet your needs.
 
RHCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITIONS
The Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors consists of 12 positions designated as "Director" positions.  Each Board of Director position is a three year term position.  Terms start on July 01 and end on June 30 three years later.  Four positions will terminate every year.  Nomination process starts in January of each year.  As  a member you  can nominate an individual or nominate yourself.  Individuals nominated have to be members in good standing with the organization and would be willing to commit to a 3 year term as well as commit to be an active board member.  As a board member, you are asked to attend a monthly meeting generally held on the third Monday of the month at the RHCC office at 5:30 pm  You also are asked to participate in any activity sponsored by the RHCC or an activity the RHCC BOD deem important to participate.  If you need more information please call 624-0889. The RHCC BOD also has an unlimited number of Member-At-Large positions that are recommended by the President and approved by the BOD.  these positions are a 1 year term positions. They serve from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.  Duties and requirements are the same of of the Director positions.
